The Merchants Association was profiled recently in an article in the Rockdale Citizen.
From that article:
CONYERS — This year local residents may have noticed several new activities cropping up in Olde Town Conyers, events such as a farmers market and Lunch on the Lawn in the Pavilion and the Olde Town Bazaar on Center Street. A music showcase is scheduled at the pavilion on Aug. 27. There’s talk of planning a street festival.
Credit the Olde Town Merchants Association, loosely formed last fall by a group of business owners and spearheaded by Greg Burch, co-owner of the Celtic Tavern.
When Burch saw a need to get merchants in the Olde Town historic district organized to work with city officials to improve the district, he paid a visit to City Hall.
“I walked into (City Manager) Tony Lucas’ office and discussed forming a merchants group with him,” Burch recalled. “Tony was very receptive, and we discussed it at length. I thought it went very well.”
The entire article can be read at The Citizen.

CONYERS — St. Patrick’s Day in Conyers features two traditions claiming worldwide uniqueness and growing in statewide fame, and they are scheduled again this year.
But there’s also something new in the popular event — for pets — and even a day of practice for those who really get into this holiday.
The 36th Annual World’s Fastest Growing St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the 7th Annual World’s Shortest Endurance Run are scheduled for Thursday March 17 at 4:30 p.m. in Olde Town Conyers. The traditional date makes the Conyers parade somewhat unique.
Our afternoon #GAsmallbiz spotlight of Olde Town merchants goes to Ezell’s Studios. Owner, Gary Ezell, has been a premier photographer in the Rockdale County area for 22 years. Gary brought his studio to 920 Center Street in Olde Town Conyers just 4 months ago. After spending some time with him, he revealed he gets his most satisfaction from seeing the smiles of his clients when they first look at his creative artistry in their own portraits. He also stated he finds it is very gratifying when clients purchase his photography. Gary spends a great deal of time photographing high school seniors and documenting their school years through photos.
He also shared a few business tips when he stated “find the understanding of business finance & money, and don’t think you are going to work a 40-hour work week when you’re self-employed”.
Ezell Studios will offer a 1 day photography class on February 27th from 1:00p to 7:00p. Cost is $140. Spaces are limited so call today to reserve your spot. 770-918-1198 #oldetownconyers #merchantsofoldetown #georgiasmallbusiness
We in Olde Town serve as the filming location for the hit CW series The Originals. They filmed on Commercial Street, on Tuesday, Feb 2, 2015. It’s quite exciting to see a huge film crew descend on our town center and create sets, and watch well-known actors use our streets and buildings for scenes we then see on TV. So many of the crew have become our friends as they support local business.
Olde Town Conyers is a great destination. Here, within a short walk, are shops, salons, restaurants, a lovely park, ice cream and so many other things. Here you can find out more about Olde Town.
